Sustainability

Trade we can stand behind.

Commodity trading sits at the intersection of agriculture, labor, and supply chain. Done right, it can move whole communities forward. Done badly, it leaves a trail of cleared forest and broken workers. We do it right.

Three Commitments

How we approach responsibility.

Traceable origin

Every commodity we ship can be traced to its grower or processor. We don't buy from anonymous middle layers. Customers ask where it came from, we have the answer in one phone call.

Long-term partnerships

The suppliers we work with have stayed with us for years. Long relationships mean better quality, better pricing, and better treatment of the people who grow and process the goods.

Standards with teeth

Aflatoxin testing on every batch. Phytosanitary on every shipment. EU-grade quality control as the default, not the exception. Standards aren't a marketing line. They're the work.

In Practice

Where it shows up in the trade.

Brazil nut and the rainforest

Brazil nut cannot be farmed. The trees only fruit inside undisturbed Amazon rainforest. Every kilo we ship is, in a real sense, a vote for keeping the forest standing. We work with Bolivian cooperatives that pay castañero communities directly.

Cashew and the women who process it

Cashew processing was, for decades, dangerous hand work performed mostly by women in India and West Africa. The shift to mechanized processing is genuine progress. We source from facilities that have invested in modern cracking lines and proper PPE.

California water and the almond question

California almond and pistachio orchards have come under fair scrutiny over water use. The newest varieties (Independence almond, Golden Hills pistachio) are part of a real efficiency shift. We track which orchards we source from and how they manage water.

Vietnamese cashew and direct relationships

Our cashew chain in Vietnam runs through Ly's processing facility, a partner since 2006. Twenty years of one relationship means we know the labor standards, the cracking methods, and the people. No anonymous brokers.
